Air fryer turkey burgers are made with lean ground turkey, flavorful seasonings and diced vegetables. They're air fried in just about 10 minutes making them an easy and quick meal choice. We love turkey burgers on a bun with a slice of provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and onion, with a side of corn on the cob, roasted baby potatoes or zucchini fries. Or, cut up in a rice and vegetable bowl drizzled with hot sauce.

Turkey patties are a delicious alternative to traditional beef hamburgers, grilled steak and hot dogs. They're a great addition to barbecues for those that want a slightly healthier meal and for meal prepping lunches throughout the week.

Why You'll Love Turkey Burgers In The Air Fryer

  • These juicy turkey burgers are easy to prepare in only a few minutes.
  • They use easy ingredients that combine to make a flavorful seasoned patty.
  • Turkey burgers are great for meal prepping!

Ingredients

To make your air fryer turkey burgers you need:

  • Ground turkey: you can substitute with ground chicken.
  • Egg: works as a binder.
  • Seasonings: chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  • Carrots: I use a bag of grated carrots but you can certainly chop or grate your own carrots.
  • Scallions: also called green onions.

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together ground turkey, egg, chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, scallions, and grated carrots until well combined.
  2. Preheat the air fryer to 400℉. Shape turkey mixture into 5 even sized circular patties. Place into the preheated air fryer basket and set to 10 minutes.
  3. Check for doneness (an internal temperature of 165℉). Continue cooking in 2 minute increments if not done.
  4. Remove from the air fryer and serve warm with your choice of toppings and bun.

Chef's Tips

  1. Use a digital thermometer to ensure the turkey burgers are cooked perfectly to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Overcooking will dry them out and undercooking them will make them unsafe to consume.
  2. The burger mixture will be sticky when forming the patties. It may be easier to form the pattie by placing the turkey mixture into the air fryer basket, then shaping it into a circle there rather than in your hands.

How To Store

Store your air fried turkey burgers in a covered container in the fridge for up to 1 week. They can be frozen for up to 6 months for optimal quality.

Great Sides For Serving Turkey Burgers

Serve turkey burgers on a bun with lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. For some fun add fried pickles! Turkey patties are also great without the bun as a low carb option. Sweet potato fries, baby potatoes, air fried roasted sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli, roasted cauliflower and parmesan-crusted asparagus are great sides for serving turkey burgers. Brown rice, fluffy white rice and wild rice are good too.

Turkey Burger Variations

  • Add more diced vegetables to the mix. Good options are tomatoes, bell peppers, red onion, sweet onion, caramelized onions, garlic or roasted garlic and grated zucchini.
  • Add feta cheese, shredded cheese or shredded swiss cheese.
  • Make them spicy by adding a bit of cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños.

Recipe FAQs

How Long To Air Fry Turkey Burgers?

Homemade turkey burgers are air fried at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes. However, depending on your air fryer brand and power level, it may take a few minutes more or less.

Can I Air Fry Burgers and Fries At The Same Time?

Yes! Depending on the type of french fries, they may take a little longer than the burgers. You can still start cooking them at the same time, but remove the burgers first and let them rest while the french fries continue to cook.
