I'll be honest, my family was not a huge fan of Brussels sprouts until I made them in the air fryer. They're made with just 6 ingredients and tossed with a balsamic vinegar glaze, tasty herbs and seasonings, plus lots of parmesan cheese. And we know that cheese makes anything better!
In less than 20 minutes we had crispy, yet tender Brussels sprouts ready to enjoy with our dinner. This easy vegetable side dish is now made on rotation, and even the kids love it! I love how it takes less time than oven baking and uses simple pantry ingredients.

The air fryer creates perfectly roasted vegetables in just minutes. It's my favorite kitchen appliance for cooking veggies for our meals. From parmesan asparagus and crispy baby potatoes to salt and pepper green beans air fryers make roasting vegetables easy and quick!
You can use a basket style like my Power XL or a toaster style air fryer like my Cosori countertop. If you're make a lot, a toaster air fryer usually can hold more food. Smaller basket air fryers may need to have vegetables cooked in batches in one layer to get them evenly cooked and crispy.
Why This Recipe Works
- It's quick to cook and simple to prepare- ready to eat in 15 minutes!
- It's delicious! The balsamic glaze gives the brussels sprouts a sweet yet tangy and savory flavor.
- Air fried Brussels sprouts use less oil than pan frying or baking but turn out very crispy and perfectly roasted nonetheless.
Ingredients
This recipe uses only 6 simple ingredients:
- Brussels sprouts: fresh brussels sprouts will have the crispiest outcome but frozen are okay to use also.
- Balsamic vinegar
- Oil: I always use extra virgin olive oil but any neutral cooking oil is fine to use.
- Seasonings: garlic powder, onion powder, salt and black pepper.
- Parmesan cheese: I prefer using grated parmesan cheese. Shredded works great as well.
Can I Use Frozen Brussels Sprouts?
Yes, however frozen Brussels sprouts need a longer cooking time and may not become as crispy as fresh ones.

Kristina's Tips
- Cut brussels sprouts in half for quick and even cooking.
- Add the parmesan cheese while brussels sprouts are still warm. You can also add it during the last 5 minutes of air frying, but no more than that to prevent the cheese from burning.
- Add in roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic, caramelized onions or crispy bacon for added flavor or crunch.
Step-By-Step Instructions
- Toss sliced brussels sprouts with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly in the seasonings.
- Place seasoned brussels sprouts in the air fryer basket. Set to air fry at 350℉ for 10 minutes. Shake basket or toss half way through.
- Transfer brussels sprouts to a serving dish and toss with parmesan cheese. Serve warm with your favorite main dish (suggestions below).
Why Won't My Brussels Sprouts Get Crispy?
Make sure you are using enough oil and coating them evenly. If you don't, they will soften rather than crisp up.
Why Did My Brussels Sprouts Burn In The Air Fryer?
If you don't shake or toss the brussels sprouts halfway through air frying, they may burn before being fully cooked. Always make sure to give it a good shake.

What To Serve With Brussels Sprouts
This brussels sprouts recipe is versatile and pairs well with a variety of main dishes. Serve with a juicy air fried ribeye steak, slow cooker barbecue chicken thighs, teriyaki chicken tenders, comforting meatloaf or maple-glazed salmon. They are also great mixed into a simple butter spaghetti or bacon pasta dinner. I even love eating a big bowl of balsamic parmesan brussels sprouts for lunch on it's own.
How To Store Brussels Sprouts
Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Poor recipe. Brussels sprouts under cooked. Not much pop from the basaltic, like in the restaurants.

These brussels sprouts turned out so crispy just as described..but were really tender in the center how I like them. The seasonings were perfect.
