Air Fryer Sausage Patties make a tasty and quick breakfast. They'll turn out nicely browned and crisp- you won't want to make them on the stovetop again!

I love using my air fryer to cook food that would otherwise leave grease all over my stove, not to mention the air fryer cooks a lot of foods quicker than the oven or stove can. I enjoy the crisp outcome of foods like air fryer bacon, air fried potstickers, frozen taquitos and baby potatoes.
Air fryer sausage patties are made almost daily in my house for breakfast, thanks to two little ones who can't get enough of their breakfast sausage. You can use the air fryer to cook frozen sausage patties or fresh sausage patties. The only difference is that frozen patties will take a couple minutes longer to cook.
Ingredients
The only ingredient needed is a package of your favorite brand of frozen sausage patties or fresh sausage patties. We love Swaggerty's premium frozen sausage and a roll of fresh Jimmy Dean's pork sausage.
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (204 degrees Celsius). Grease the inside of the air fryer basket with nonstick cooking spray.
- Place the sausage patties in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
- Cook in the preheated air fryer for 8-12 minutes, until an instant read thermometer reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Fahrenheit). *Flipping is optional, but unnecessary when using an air fryer basket or tray with holes.
- Remove from the air fryer, serve hot and enjoy!
Tips from the Chef
Once your sausage patties reach 165โ, how much longer you cook them for is up to how crispy you want them. I cook mine for about 10 minutes total because we like our sausage browned and crispy around the edges, but not too burnt.
What To Serve With Sausage Patties For Breakfast?
You air fryer sausage patties make a great breakfast diced up inside an egg and cheese breakfast burrito or a spinach and egg burrito...or instead of the bacon in a bacon, egg and cheese crescent ring. Serve with a garden vegetable omelette, cottage cheese waffles, and oat milk pancakes or almond milk pancakes.
Recipe FAQs
Preheating your air fryer depends on the type of air fryer you own and it's settings. Basket style air fryers don't need to preheated, as they warm up quickly and are a little more powerful than oven style air fryers. I don't preheat my basket air fryer. My Cosori oven air fryer needs to be preheated. If your air fryer has a preheat function, its best to make the same recipe with and without preheating to see if there is a difference in cook time.
The great thing about an air fryer is that the air evenly flows around the food so there is no need to flip it when you're using the standard air fryer basket with holes or a rack (for oven style air fryers). If you're using a solid tray, you should flip the patties halfway through cooking.
If using frozen patties, you should air fry them directly from their frozen state. Most packages will state "cook from frozen" or "do not thaw". If you're not using frozen patties and using fresh instead, they can be air fried as is.
Wrap the patties in foil or put in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. You can freeze them for up to 6 months.
