Air Fryer Frozen Taquitos are one of my favorite easy lunches, snacks and dinners. They are also a perfect party or game day food that can be made in less than 10 minutes. We love air frying them as much as we do frozen chicken nuggets, potstickers and corn dogs. So grab your favorite brand of frozen taquitos, tasty taquito toppings and your air fryer!

This easy air fryer recipes takes packaged frozen taquitos and cooks them to crispy perfection in no time at all. Dress up your air fryer frozen taquitos with salsa roja, salsa verde, sour cream, cheese, guacamole and more. If you'd rather fill and roll your own taquitos, you can follow this recipe for air fried taquitos or pan fried chicken taquitos.

I make frozen taquitos in my air fryer for my kids weekly. They make a great after school snack, easy lunch on the weekends or quick dinner on a busy night. Taquitos also work as an appetizer for Mexican dinner nights of cheesy enchiladas and slow cooker chicken taco soup or a main with Mexican side dishes like Spanish rice and seasoned black beans.

Cooking frozen foods in the air fryer is incredibly quick and easy. Doing so generally takes half the time as the oven, just like air frying frozen taquitos does. They turn out super crunchy this way!

  • Frozen taquitos: we love Jose Ole beef and cheese taquitos in flour tortillas (pictured here) and Jose Ole chicken taquitos in corn tortillas. But any brand of taquitos with any fillings can be air fried. El Monterey is another brand that we love.
  • Optional toppings: salsa, shredded lettuce, guacamole, shredded cheese, sour cream.

How To Cook Frozen Taquitos In The Air Fryer

Making frozen taquitos in the air fryer is extremely easy!

STEP 1: Preheat the air fryer to 375℉/190℃. If your air fryer does not require preheating, skip this step.

STEP 2: Place frozen taquitos in the air fryer basket or on the air fryer wire rack with space between each. Spray generously with oil.

STEP 3: Air fry for 7-11 minutes, or until the internal temperature is 165℉.

Optional: flip taquitos halfway through cooking and respray with oil. There is no need to turn the taquitos or use oil unless you want your taquitos extra golden brown and crispy.

In my PowerXL Vortex Air Fryer, the taquitos came out perfect in 9 minutes.

STEP 4: Remove taquitos from the air fryer using tongs. Let cool a few minutes, then serve with your favorite toppings, such as shredded lettuce, shredded Mexican blend cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, etc.

Store leftover taquitos in a covered airtight container for up to 5 days.

Chef's Tip

For extra crispy taquitos, spray with cooking oil at the beginning, flip halfway through air frying and spray again with cooking oil.

Recipe FAQs

How Long To Cook Frozen Taquitos In An Air Fryer?

Frozen taquitos air fry at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 to 11 minutes, depending on your air fryer brand and style.

Should I Thaw Frozen Taquitos Before Air Frying?

No, you should not thaw them. Air fry taquitos directly from frozen.

Do I Need To Flip The Taquitos?

There is no need to turn the taquitos or use oil unless you want your taquitos extra golden brown and crispy.

How Can I Fill And Roll My Own Taquitos?

For instructions on how to make your own homemade taquitos to air fry, see this post.

What Toppings Can I Add To Frozen Taquitos To Make Them Better?

While frozen taquitos are somewhat plain (but delicious!), toppings always make them taste even better. Salsas are an obvious choice and there are so many that you can go with. For a sweet and fruity flavor, mango pico de gallo is great. For a more traditional feeling, go with tomato salsa, mango habañero salsa, salsa verde or a spicy chile de arbol salsa. Other toppings such as shredded lettuce, shredded Mexican blend cheese or melting cheese, sour cream, guacamole, sliced jalapeños and other hot peppers are great additions.

What Can I Serve With Air Fried Taquitos?

Serve taquitos as a main dish with Spanish rice and seasoned Mexican black beans. As an appetizer or side dish, serve them with slow cooker birria stew, chilaquiles rojos, Instant Pot shredded Mexican beef or Instant Pot taco pasta. And don't forget to end your meal with a frozen strawberry margarita!
