It's freezer-friendly.

How To Make Applesauce In An Instant Pot
- Prepare the apples by coring, peeling (optional) and chopping into quarters.
- Place the chopped apples in the Instant Pot. Add water and lemon juice. Stir.
- Close the Instant Pot lid, set the vent to "Sealing," and select the "Manual" or "Pressure Cook" function. Set the timer to cook for 15 minutes on high pressure.
- Once cooking is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 15 minutes. Then manually release any remaining pressure.
- Mash, use an immersion blender or transfer the cooked apples to a regular blender to blend until smooth. Add more water in small amounts until applesauce has thinned to your liking if needed
- Allow the applesauce to cool before transferring it to clean, airtight jars or containers. Refrigerate for short-term use or freeze for longer storage.
Chef's Tips
The color of the applesauce depends on whether you peel the skins or leave them on. With the skins on, the final product will be golden brown like the pictures here. If the apples are peeled, it will be much lighter and look similar to store bought applesauce.
Make the applesauce as smooth or as chunky as you'd like when mashing or blending it.
How To Store
Once cooled, transfer to glass mason jars or other airtight containers. Seal the lid tightly and store in the fridge for 2-3 weeks. To store in the freezer, place in freezer-safe containers and freeze for 6-12 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge when ready to use.
