Like most vegetables, cooking corn on the cob in your air fryer is incredibly simple. From preparation to serving, it takes about 15 minutes. Air fried corn on the cob is a great alternative to stovetop boiling or grilling corn.
Air fryer corn on the cob is simple, quick and delicious. Whether your barbecue gets rained out or your stove is out of commision (or maybe you just want to test out a new food in your air fryer), it's worth knowing how to make sweet summer corn in your air fryer.
The ears of corn are rubbed lightly with a little olive oil or melted butter, then cooked til tender. They can be seasoned after cooking with your favorite corn condiments, such as salt and pepper, butter, fresh herbs and grated cheese. Air fried corn is comparable to grilled corn in taste and texture. It will look roasted, with some kernels browning.
Corn can be air fried in any brand or style air fryer large enough to fit the ears. I make this in both my Ultenic basket air fryer and my Instant Duo Crisp. I can air fry more cobs in my Instant Omni oven style air fryer, so I use this for larger gatherings.
What You Need
- Air fryer, any brand and style.
- Tongs
- Ears of fresh corn, husks removed.
- Melted butter or olive oil
Plus your choice of seasonings, if any, for after cooking. Butter, salt, pepper, grated cheese and fresh herbs like chives and parsley taste wonderful on warm freshly roasted corn on the cob. In my opinion though, just a little salt and butter is all you need on this already sweet and juicy vegetable.
Cooking Tips and Facts
The corn should be rubbed before cooking with a little olive oil or melted butter to help roast it til tender. Beyond that, seasonings are best added once cooking is done. This is particularly true for salt or seasoning rubs that contain salt. These can break down the enzymes in the corn kernels and cause them to wither or shrivel. Another reason to season corn once it's done cooking is so that everyone can flavor theirs according to their preference. You can certainly add seasonings prior to cooking if that's what you'd like, though.
Foil is not necessary to air fry corn on the cob. If you choose to use it, plan to add a few minutes to the cook time.
Absolutely! Add a few minutes to the cook time when air frying frozen corn.
Keep in mind that every air fryer is different and cooks at varying speeds. For the first time cooking any recipe, get to know your air fryer by constantly checking in on the food and monitoring the results. Your air fryer may need more or less time than mine.
