Ingredients
Kielbasa and pepper pasta is made with 8 easy ingredients:
- turkey kielbasa: or beef kielbasa
- sliced green peppers
- diced canned tomatoes
- onions and garlic
- Italian seasoning
- spaghetti or angel hair pasta
- butter
- parmesan cheese
Chef's Tip
For a "fresher" version of my kielbasa and pepper pasta, replace the canned tomatoes with chopped fresh tomatoes. You can use 6 plum tomatoes to replace 1 can of diced tomatoes.
Instructions
Making this kielbasa and pepper pasta recipe takes about 25 minutes from start to finish.
- Bring salted water to a boil in a large pot and cook the spaghetti according to the package. Drain and set aside while cooking the remainder of the meal.
- Cut the kielbasa ring into thin pieces, about ยผ to ยฝ inch thick. In a large pan with a few tablespoons of oil, brown the kielbasa on medium high heat for 5 minutes, flipping once halfway through.
- While the kielbasa browns, cut the peppers into thin slices. Roughly chop the onion and slice the garlic into thin pieces. Add to the pan with the browned kielbasa and cook until the onions and peppers soften, about 5 minutes. Stir the mix occasionally, scraping the tasty brown bits off the bottom of the pan.
- Add the canned tomatoes with their juices and the Italian seasoning. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to your liking. If you'd like more sauce, you can add a little bit of water.
- Mix the pasta with the butter and Parmesan cheese. Toss the kielbasa and pepper mixture with the pasta and sprinkle with extra Parmesan if desired.
How To Store
Kielbasa and pepper pasta keeps in the fridge for up to 5 days in a covered container.
