This flavorful homemade enchilada seasoning beats store bought any day and is perfect for using on beef or chicken enchiladas and other Mexican-inspired recipes like soups and stews.

Homemade seasoning blends are easy and quick to make, and you control the flavor making them perfect for anyone watching salt intake, spiciness level and those looking for a customized taste. This enchilada seasoning is the best I've made to date!
Once you've tried this delicious enchilada seasoning, give our chicken taco seasoning, beef taco seasoning and cheesesteak seasoning a try. I always have them stocked in my pantry.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ tablespoon chili powder
- 1 ½ tablespoon paprika
- 1 ½ tablespoon dried onion flakes
- 2 ¼ teaspoon cumin
- 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 ½ teaspoon brown sugar (light or dark both work)
- ¾ teaspoon salt
These quantities yield about 7 tablespoons of seasoning, which is perfect for 2 pounds of chicken.
Instructions
- Mix the chili powder, dried onion flakes, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, brown sugar and salt together in a small bowl.
- Store in a tightly sealed mason jar until ready to use.
- When ready to use, toss 2 pounds of chicken with all of the enchilada seasoning. Cook using desired method (stovetop, slow cooker, pressure cooker). See here for how to assemble enchiladas.
