It's hard to find a good quality, great tasting seasoning for Philly cheesesteaks, but this homemade seasoning is a fantastic blend of pantry staple slices that create the best cheesesteak seasoning. It's my go-to and you'll always find it on a shelf in my pantry next to homemade chicken taco seasoning, enchilada seasoning and beef taco seasoning.
Ingredients
To make the best seasoning for Philly cheesesteak, you need:
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp thyme
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp black pepper
This amount of seasoning is perfect for 2 pounds of shaved sirloin steak.
Instructions
- Mix chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, salt and black pepper together in a small bowl.
- Store in a tightly sealed mason jar until ready to use.
- When ready to use, toss 2 pounds of shaved sirloin steak with โ cup of cheesesteak seasoning. Grill or pan fry with 2 sliced bell peppers and 1 sliced sweet onion, until the steak reaches 165โ internally. Divide filling between 6 hoagie rolls topped with provolone cheese slices and serve warm.
