If this is your first time reading about my family's fun breakfast charcuterie boards, welcome! If you've already been reading about how much fun my kids and I have every week making a new charcuterie board, welcome back!
This week we had a little house guest who had never made french toast before. So naturally I had to show her how it's done. Of course, that meant throwing together another fun breakfast charcuterie board complete with nutmeg-spiced french toast slices, lots of fresh berries and bacon!
While you're here, head on over to one of the most popular posts: my guide to creating a 15 minute kid-friendly charcuterie board for every occasion.
We started making charcuterie boards about 2 years ago, before they became as popular as they are now. Making charcuterie boards for parties and gatherings turned into making breakfast charcuterie boards just for my little family once the pandemic hit and we were stuck inside.
They became a great way to get my kids involved in the kitchen and interested in learning how to create simple, kid-friendly recipes.
Charcuterie boards also get my kids to try new foods, just because they are able to pick what they want and arrange their own plates. Making charcuterie boards and eating from them are exciting for my kids, and I think they'll be for yours too.
Charcuterie boards work wonders for most picky eaters. There is something special about deciding which food to eat from a charcuterie board for little kids. Just by giving your picky kiddos a choice in which fresh fruits to eat makes them feel independent. Let them help make your breakfast charcuterie board, and I be they will be willing to try out foods they never have tasted or "hated" a few days ago.
See my little ones down there, enjoying this delicious french toast breakfast charcuterie board? They love it! It's hard to believe that 5 minutes before we started making the board they weren't hungry. All of a sudden they were starving at the sight of all those options and having a hand in making french toast!
P.S. They also ate more nutmeg-spiced french toast than me and my husband, so make some extra! ๐
Since they love charcuterie boards so much, we may try our hand at a yeast donut hole recipe to add to our next sweet breakfast board.
๐ Making French Toast
Making french toast is fun and simple! You need your favorite bread slices, such as white bread, whole wheat bread, etc. The bread is dredged in an egg mixture that's made with egg, milk, vanilla extract, and spices. After it's dredged, the bread is pan fried in butter until golden brown on each side. Our favorite french toast slices are the ones where you can see the yellow and white cooked egg on the toast! And our favorite french toast egg mixture is a nutmeg and cinnamon spiced one, perfect for a fall or winter weekend breakfast!
๐ฑ Charcuterie Boards
To make any breakfast charcuterie board, you first need to decide on the charcuterie board you'll use. If you don't have one, you can absolutely use a large cutting board.
If you'd like to purchase a charcuterie board, there are charcuterie boards" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">many options on Amazon. Home Goods is another great option for good quality, yet discounted boards.
This board on Amazon is one of my favorite circular boards. I love that it has handles for easy carrying! If you'd like a rectangular snack board, this one here is a great option. But you can also use a large wooden cutting board if you don't have time to go shopping or if you're on a really tight budget. (no one will notice!)
But my absolute favorite board is this Smirly Cheese Board. It's awesome for wine, cheese, meat, nuts, and fruit because it has 5 different serving sections and serving ware!
