Step-By-Step Directions
This Valentine's Day pancake board is easy, cute, and will be fun for your kids to help make. I won't go into the nitty gritty details about arranging foods, setting a theme and the like, here.
See this post for tips and strategies to make epic family-friendly charcuterie boards.
This breakfast board should come together quickly, in as long as it takes to make and cut the pancakes into hearts.
That's usually about 20-30 minutes, depending on how many pancakes you're making.
I use either this vanilla almond milk pancake recipe or oat milk pancake recipe. Both are dairy free and delicious, if you have a restricted diet.
We always use alternatives to dairy milk when making pancakes or waffles, to limit our dairy intake. I find these to be the best pancakes and waffles we ever make!
First, cook the bacon either in the oven (my prefered way) or on a griddle to your desired doneness. While the bacon cooks, make the pancakes. They are shaped into hearts after they are cooked.
- In a large mixing bowl combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the almond milk, oil, vanilla, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
- Melt 1 teaspoon butter over medium heat on a griddle. Fill a soup ladle halfway with batter and pour onto the griddle. When bubbles begin to form, flip with a spatula (about 2 minutes). Cook on other side for about 90 more seconds, or until both sides are golden brown.
- Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut the pancakes into hearts.
Then, make the rest of the board.
- To a wooden board or large serving platter, arrange strawberries and raspberries in bowls. Arrange the pancakes around the bowls, and fill in the empty spots with cooked bacon.
- Serve with maple syrup, butter, or yogurt on the side.
If you're in need of a charcuterie board or large serving board, stores like HomeGoods have a great selection. My favorite charcuterie board is this Smirly cheese board from Amazon. You can find a ton of boards on Amazon for any occasion.
