I have been making this simple kielbasa and pepper pasta for decades. Its one of my family's favorite and most requested dinners. It's so simple that even the most kitchen-inclined person can make it. You can make it in the Instant Pot too, if you prefer that method.

My kielbasa and pepper pasta recipe is a simple and delicious dinner to make during the busy weeknights, the cold fall and winter months, and days when you simply need a hearty comforting meal. When you're done trying this recipe, make sure to check out this easy slow cooker kielbasa and potatoes recipe. And a quick and easy kielbasa and peppers air fryer meal.

Ingredients

Kielbasa and pepper pasta is made with 8 easy ingredients:

  • turkey kielbasa: or beef kielbasa
  • sliced green peppers
  • diced canned tomatoes
  • onions and garlic
  • Italian seasoning
  • spaghetti or angel hair pasta
  • butter
  • parmesan cheese

Chef's Tip

For a "fresher" version of my kielbasa and pepper pasta, replace the canned tomatoes with chopped fresh tomatoes. You can use 6 plum tomatoes to replace 1 can of diced tomatoes.

Instructions

Making this kielbasa and pepper pasta recipe takes about 25 minutes from start to finish.

  1. Bring salted water to a boil in a large pot and cook the spaghetti according to the package. Drain and set aside while cooking the remainder of the meal.
  2. Cut the kielbasa ring into thin pieces, about ¼ to ½ inch thick. In a large pan with a few tablespoons of oil, brown the kielbasa on medium high heat for 5 minutes, flipping once halfway through.
  3. While the kielbasa browns, cut the peppers into thin slices. Roughly chop the onion and slice the garlic into thin pieces. Add to the pan with the browned kielbasa and cook until the onions and peppers soften, about 5 minutes. Stir the mix occasionally, scraping the tasty brown bits off the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add the canned tomatoes with their juices and the Italian seasoning. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to your liking. If you'd like more sauce, you can add a little bit of water.
  5. Mix the pasta with the butter and Parmesan cheese. Toss the kielbasa and pepper mixture with the pasta and sprinkle with extra Parmesan if desired.

This was delicious. The next time I make this, I’m going to cut back on the amount of diced tomatoes. It calls for 28 oz, I’ll probably use about 20 oz.
