Halloween is one of our favorite holidays for making all kinds of fun foods and spooky treats. We love making cheesy mummy hot dogs to fuel our trick-or-treating, and coming back home for a dessert of chocolate zombie cupcakes, dark unicorn cupcakes or chocolate graveyard pudding cups.
Halloween Graveyard Brownies are a fun and spooky dessert for the kids this Halloween. All you need to do is bake a box of brownie mix and then decorate the cooked brownies with edible tombstone candies. They're so easy to make, only taking about 30 minutes! This recipe is perfect for kids of all ages to help make and eat. If you're feeling up to it, you can use our Oreo brownies recipe to make a from-scratch extra chocolatey brownie.
So whether you're throwing a small party, bringing them to the classroom, or enjoying them with your family while watching spooky movies, graveyard brownies will be a total hit!

Ingredients and Supplies Needed
You need just a few ingredients to make these graveyard brownies:
- Chocolate brownie mix: plus the ingredients on the box, usually egg and oil. Or feel free to use any homemade brownie recipe.
- Graveyard decorating kid: I use this kit from Wilton. You can also use Milano cookies as the tombstone and black decorating gel writing.
Instructions
- Follow the instructions on the brownie mix package to make the brownies. Mix the batter, pour into a parchment lined pan, and bake for the time indicated. Allow brownies to cool for 20 minutes before removing them from the pan. To easily remove the brownies, pull them up and out by the parchment paper.
- Transfer the brownies to a serving plate and slice into 12 pieces.
- On each tombstone, write a phrase and insert 1 tombstone into each brownie slice. Arrange the edible bones and other candy chosen as desired.

Tombstone Phrase Ideas
- R.I.P
- S.O.S
- Get Me Outta Here!
- Just Sleepin'
- No Time for Rest!
- Don't Leave Me Here!
- I'll Be Back!
- Help Me Out!
- Please Don't Go!
More Graveyard Decoration Ideas
In addition to the candy bones, add more Halloween candy decor like:
- Candy corn
- Candy pumpkins
- Gummy worms or skulls
- Candy flowers or flower bouquets made from frosting to give the creepy graveyard look a little happiness
How To Store
Store your graveyard brownies at room temperature for up to 3 days. They will tast the best the day they're made. Leftover brownies can be frozen (without the candy) for up to 6 months.
