Apple Nachos are a healthy after school snack idea that will fill your kids' hungry tummies and satisfy their sweet tooth too! This recipe uses only 4 ingredients and is ready in about 10 minutes. Kids can make this awesome little snack all by themselves and add their favorite toppings in addition to caramel, chocolate, and chocolate chips. There's no cooking, so it's a safe way to get your little ones involved in the kitchen.
This is one of my kids snack time favorites, along with apple bread (also made in the bread machine), pumpkin cream cheese muffins and cream cheese danishes. And if you love apple-inspired treats, these delicious apple muffins, apple hand pies, and apple cinnamon rolls belong on your Fall baking list!
While perfect for using up those crispy fall apples you picked at the orchard, apple nachos are delicious anytime of the year and can be made with pears too.

Ingredients
You need just a few easy ingredients:

Variations
For an even more wholesome or hearty treat add:

- Chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds
- Crunchy granola
- Dried cranberries
- Raisins
- Coconut shavings
Instructions
Apple nachos are so easy to make- there is no cooking at all, just slicing up the fruit! It takes just 5 minutes to put together.
- Slice the apples and arrange them on a plate. My rule of thumb is 1 apple per child.
- Drizzle the apples with caramel and chocolate syrup. Top with the chocolate chips. If you're using jarred sauce that's thicker than the squeeze bottle kind, warm it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
Apple nachos are best served immediately. But my kids' didn't eat them all the first day, so we put them in the fridge. The next day they were still quite delicious! The apples had softened, but hadn't browned yet.

How Do I Keep The Apples From Turning Brown?
To keep the sliced apples from browning, give them a light spritz with a citrus liquid, like lemon juice. You can also soak them in lime juice, lemon juice, or pineapple just for 10 minutes immediately after slicing. Then pat dry and create your plate of nachos.

Enjoy!
