Add the black beans to a large mixing bowl. Use a potato or meat masher to mash most of the beans (or run through a food processor). Add all other ingredients to the bowl and mix until thoroughly combined.
Shape the black bean mixture into the desired sized patties. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 400℉ for 20 minutes or until patties are a deep brown/black color and reach an internal temperature of 140℉. Alternatively, air fry for 10 minutes or pan fry for 4-5 minutes on each side in a small amount of oil over medium heat.
Remove from the oven. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving with your choice of toppings, such as ketchup, avocado slices, sliced onions, lettuce, tomato, or mayo.
Notes
Storing: Store cooked black bean patties in the fridge for up to 5 days. Uncooked and cooked patties can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months in freezer-safe storage bags. Reheat in a skillet or the oven for the best texture. They can also be reheated in the microwave.
