Ingredients
1mediumsweet onion
½cupall-purpose flour
½teaspoongarlic powder
½teaspoononion powder
¼teaspoonpaprika
½cupItalian seasoned breadcrumbs
½cupwhole milk
oil cooking spray
Instructions
Cut the sweet onion into ¼-1/2 inch thick rings. Gently separate the rings and set them aside.
Set up the breading station. In 1 large mixing bowl, combine the flour, onion powder, garlic powder and paprika. Pour the milk into a separate large milking bowl. In a third bowl, add the Italian seasoned breadcrumbs.
Using tongs or a fork, dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then the milk, and finally the breadcrumbs. Place the onion rings on a baking sheet or large cutting board as you work through the batch. Be sure each onion ring is fully coated before moving on to the next step.
Transfer the coated onion rings to the air fryer basket, spacing them so they are not touching. Spray with oil until fully coated. Air fry at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Enjoy immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, like ranch, ketchup or spicy mayo.
Notes
Storing: Store leftover onion rings in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Reheat in the air fryer at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-3 minutes, or until hot and crispy again.Tip 1: Thicker onion rings may need a few extra minutes to cook.Tip 2: Fully coat each onion ring at every step for the crispiest results.Tip 3: Avoid overcrowding the air fryer- cook in batches if needed.
