Ingredients

  • 2 lbs spaghetti
  • ½ lb asparagus
  • ½ cup butter
  • 10 garlic cloves
  • 10 slices of bacon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Bring salted water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon oil and cook spaghetti according to package, reserving pasta water for use in sauce.
  • In a large pan, add enough oil to coat the bottom, Cook asparagus on medium heat for 3 minutes per side. Remove from pan.
  • Add bacon to pan and cook until crispy. Remove from pan.
  • Drain grease. Scrape leftover bacon bits from bottom of pan, but leave in the pan for the sauce. Add butter and melt over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook 2 minutes. Add salt and pepper. Stir and remove from heat.
  • Add 2 cups of pasta water to pan and stir. Add cheese ¼ cup at a time, whisking constantly to incorporate.
  • Break bacon into tiny bits. Toss bacon bits and sauce with spaghetti.
  • Serve, topped with asparagus and red pepper flakes.
