Equipment

Ingredients

  • 20 frozen meatballs
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 2 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Place the frozen meatballs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Set to 8 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. When done, remove from the basket and slice in half.
  • While meatballs are air frying, slice the rolls. Spoon sauce on both sides of the roll and top with mozzarella cheese. Add sliced meatballs. Close the sandwich and top with more mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of parmesan.
  • Place in the air fryer basket. If your machine has a broil option, set it to broil at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 6 minutes. If there is no broil, set to air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 minutes.
  • Remove with tongs, let cool, and enjoy.

Notes

If using raw frozen meatballs, cook for 12-14 minutes. Air fryers can vary slightly so always check a few minutes early so they don't become overcooked.
If using raw uncooked meatballs, cook at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, checking to make sure they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
Air fryer meatball subs can be stored in the fridge for a day or so. To warm, pop back in the air fryer or toaster for a few minutes.
They also freeze well for about 3 months. This makes them a great freezer-friendly lunch or dinner for freezer meal prepping, new mom meal prepping, or storing leftovers that you won't eat within a few days.
