Easy Homemade Popsicles with Yogurt and Fruit are made with just 3 ingredients: yogurt, fruit, and honey! Blend, freeze, enjoy!
Homemade Popsicles with Yogurt and Fruit
The equation for a tasty homemade popsicle is so simple.
frozen fruit + plain yogurt + a drizzle of honey
That's it! These homemade popsicles have only 3 ingredients. You can even make them with 2 ingredients, just yogurt and fruit, if you want to skip the honey.
There's nothing like a delicious ice-cold popsicle on a summer's day. I think throughout my childhood I had one every day during those hot and humid months. I can remember there being a deep freezer in the garage dedicated just to popsicles!
Now that I have children of my own, I have a great excuse to start eating popsicles again! Except now I realize just how much sugar and added ingredients are in them. The list is loooong. So I decided if my kids are going to eat popsicles every day, then they need to at least be somewhat healthy.
Enter: homemade popsicles with yogurt and fruit.
Ingredients and Tools
To make homemade popsicles using a traditional 4 piece popsicle mold, you need:
1 cup of frozen fruit. Pick a very sweet frozen fruit, since you won't be using any added sugar (except for a tad bit of honey). To me, the best choices are mango, raspberry, blueberry, and strawberry, or a combination of those.
1 cup of plain yogurt. I use a homemade yogurt recipe, but your favorite store bought brand will do. Make sure to use regular yogurt rather than Greek, or the popsicle batter will be too thick to pour.
A drizzle of honey. I usually, but not always, add a drizzle of honey before blending for an extra kick of sweetness. And because we always have so much honey that I don't know what to do with it! But this is an optional ingredient, so if you don''t have honey, don't fret. Your homemade popsicles will be delicious without it too!
Our favorite homemade popsicles are made with frozen mango and plain Lidl brand yogurt.
You will also need a blender and popsicle molds. We buy traditional 4 cup popsicle molds from Walmart or Target for a couple dollars. We also have these really funny emoji poop popsicle molds sent to us by grandma! Those are my daughter's FAVORITE. She never asks for a popsicle anymore, just "can I have an mango poop pop?"!
Don't have a popsicle mold? No worries! There are ways to make homemade popsicles without a mold.
How to Make Homemade Popsicles with Yogurt and Fruit
My recipe for homemade popsicles is incredibly simple. I don't fuss with trying to keep whole fruit chunks and I don't add any specialty ingredients, like chia seeds or herbs. My goal here is to make the homemade popsicles as delicious, healthy, and easy as possible.
All you need to do is:
- blend all ingredients until a smooth and creamy liquid is formed
- pour into the popsicle molds and freeze
That's it! Incredibly easy-peazy homemade popsicles in just 5 minutes! (minus the freeze time of course, during which I guarantee you'll be asked a gazillion times when the pops will be ready!)
I hope that your kids enjoy this sweet and tasty treat! Don't forget to grab one for yourself!
